Microsoft to merge scattered Copilot apps, drop underperforming AI features
Microsoft will merge its consumer Copilot app with the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and remove some AI features that did not perform well. The overhaul is aimed at simplifying the Copilot experience as personal and workplace AI use increasingly overlap. Some features will become unavailable to general users by Aug. 18, while paid business users will have access to a replacement research tool. Microsoft will also end its Copilot animated character Miko.

Microsoft to merge consumer and business Copilot in August, cut underused features
Microsoft will merge its consumer and business Copilot products into a single app in August, The Information reported on July 2. A memo sent to employees by Microsoft vice president Jacob Andreou (제이콥 안드레우) said the unified app will include an AI coding tool and a new paid Autopilot agent. Microsoft will discontinue Copilot Podcasts and shut Copilot Labs, while removing features that have not delivered results.

Microsoft develops super app to integrate Copilot, targets summer launch
Microsoft is developing a super app that brings its various Copilot AI tools into a single interface, Fortune reported on May 29. The company is working to combine GitHub Copilot, Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork and an agentic workflow feature codenamed Autopilot, and the effort also includes Microsoft 365 Copilot accounts. The project is led by Copilot head Jacob Andreou (제이콥 안드레우).
