BYD to hire 9,000 at two China plants as overseas sales outpace domestic demand
BYD is hiring about 9,000 new workers at production bases around Shenzhen and Shantou in China’s Guangdong province, as it moves to expand capacity amid rapidly growing overseas sales. Recruitment will cover an Ebu parts plant and a Xiaomo vehicle plant, including multiple business divisions and production roles. The Sanshan auto industrial park is a key BYD hub producing models for domestic sales and exports. BYD’s June overseas sales rose 94.7 percent from a year earlier to 175,349 vehicles.

China removes 14,000 AI products in sweeping cleanup amid race for AI dominance
China has begun a broad overhaul of artificial intelligence services, removing about 14,000 products from domestic networks for failing safety standards and regulatory requirements. Regulators also deleted more than 6 million items of illegal or harmful information and suspended over 26,000 accounts. Authorities are tightening pre-registration and safety obligations for AI services and preparing a second enforcement phase targeting misinformation, impersonation and other abuses. New rules on AI companion services take effect from July 15.

China forms semiconductor alliance as Alibaba, CXMT join launch of huge fund
Major Chinese technology companies and state-backed investment institutions have launched a 3.91 billion yuan long-term investment fund in response to tighter U.S. technology export controls. The Changzhi Hanhai Private Investment Fund, registered in Shanghai’s Pudong New Area, aims to supply “patient capital” to support research, development and commercialisation in deep-tech fields such as semiconductors. Investors include CXMT-related entities, Alibaba affiliates and AMEC, alongside state-backed funds.
