Google reorganises AI coding strike team, launches mid-training team
Google is reorganising a recently launched strike team as it seeks to catch up with Anthropic in the AI coding tools race. The changes focus on how models are trained, adding a mid-training team to train specialised data between pre-training and post-training. Google delays Gemini 3.5 Pro launch to July to incorporate early feedback, real-world data
Google has pushed back the launch of its AI model Gemini 3.5 Pro from June to July to incorporate early tester feedback and additional real-world usage data, Business Insider reported. The company had previewed the model at its I/O developer event in May and said it was not ready. The model is already available to some users via the Antigravity platform and benchmarking site LMArena.

Google rolls out Gemini 3.5 Flash, Gemini 3.5 Pro set for next month
Google unveiled its next-generation AI model strategy for Gemini 3.5, rolling out Gemini 3.5 Flash first while planning to release Gemini 3.5 Pro next month. At its I/O 2026 developer event in California, Google made Flash the default model for the Gemini app and AI Search mode. The company said Flash targets a balance of speed, cost and performance, while Pro will handle deeper reasoning and longer context tasks.
