Google reorganises AI coding strike team, launches mid-training team

Google is reorganising a recently launched strike team as it seeks to catch up with Anthropic in the AI coding tools race. The changes focus on how models are trained, adding a mid-training team to train specialised data between pre-training and post-training. The company is also seeing departures of key AI talent, including Noam Shazeer and DeepMind vice president John Jumper, which sent Alphabet shares down 5 percent on the 22nd.
