SoftBank to launch gigawatt-scale battery business with South Korean firm in AI-era power bet
SoftBank is moving into battery production in Japan to meet surging power demand driven by the spread of artificial intelligence, aiming to expand into a power and data infrastructure company. It plans to build a battery production base called the GX Factory on the former Sharp Sakai plant site in Sakai, Osaka. SoftBank will develop zinc halide batteries with South Korean firm Cosmos Lab and build energy storage systems with DeltaX.

Elice Group, Standard Energy target global market with AI PMDC
Elice Group said on Wednesday it signed an MOU with Standard Energy to jointly develop a power solution combining AI modular data centres with vanadium ion batteries. The companies aim to improve power stability, fire safety and energy efficiency amid rising data centre demand driven by the spread of AI services. They will develop modular UPS and BESS systems optimised for PMDCs and advance an AI-based energy management system.

Samsung Electronics to supply heat pump solution to Cornwall housing complex
Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday it will supply heat pump-based HVAC solutions to a large housing complex in Cornwall, southwest England. The supply will cover 1,500 households in West Carclaze Garden Village, a redevelopment of about 610,000 pyeong of a former mine site. The project involves Eco Bos and Homes England. Samsung will also provide home appliances and its AI-based SmartThings Pro B2B energy management solution across the complex.
