SpaceX Falcon 9 debris to hit moon\'s near side in August
The upper stage of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched in January last year is expected to hit the moon’s near side in August, astronomers say. They see a high chance of an Aug. 5 impact near the Einstein crater at 2.43 km per second. Developer Bill Gray said the object has been continuously tracked, with 1,053 observations as of Feb. 26, 2026, and should create only a small crater.
