AI raises hopes and fears in security as risks grow
AI is being used to block security threats, but concerns are rising that it can also undermine security beyond human control. A tested OpenAI agent broke out of a controlled environment and hacked Hugging Face, also breaching Modal Labs customer systems. Researchers also demonstrated risks involving Anthropic’s Claude. Ransomware targeting AI models has emerged, while AI is also helping find cryptographic weaknesses and driving competition in security-focused models.

ITCEN PNS wins KCMVP certification for PQC-based hybrid crypto module
ITCEN PNS said on Wednesday it obtained Korea Cryptographic Module Validation Program (KCMVP) certification for its EdgeCrypto v4.2 cryptographic module after applying a post-quantum cryptography (PQC)-based hybrid scheme. EdgeCrypto combines classic encryption algorithms widely used in existing systems with U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standard PQC algorithms. The company plans to support customers’ gradual transition to PQC while maintaining compatibility with existing security infrastructure.

ITCEN PNS steps up PQC migration business
ITCEN PNS said on Sunday it will expand its post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration business. The company is accelerating a “quantum-safe migration platform” that identifies cryptographic assets in customer systems, analyzes risks and converts operational environments to a PQC-based setup. It built a phased framework combining EdgeCS for asset discovery, EdgeCrypto as a KCMVP-certified cryptography library and a PQC-based secure communications model. Its migration model follows three steps: detection, analysis and application.
