New York City implements \'click-to-cancel\' rule to make subscription cancellations as easy as sign-ups
New York City has implemented a \"click-to-cancel\" rule requiring companies that offer auto-renewing or ongoing subscription services to provide a simple cancellation process. Businesses must clearly disclose subscription terms and consumer rights at sign-up, payment and cancellation, and offer cancellation through the same channel used to subscribe. The city’s consumer protection agency will enforce the rule and can levy civil penalties of $525 per violation.
