D.Camp, Korea Murata Electronics expand technology cooperation with domestic deep tech startups

D.Camp said on Tuesday it completed the final private pitching for its \'Startup OI Kyoto #DeepTech\' programme with Korea Murata Electronics, the South Korean unit of Murata Manufacturing. The programme aims to find technology collaboration and commercialisation opportunities between South Korean deep tech startups and large Japanese companies. Nine startups took part. The judges selected Lfease Robotics and Oceans Bio as top companies.

D.Camp and JR East to cooperate on open innovation to support Korean startups in Japan

D.Camp said on Tuesday it will cooperate with East Japan Railway Co. (JR East) to support Korean startups entering the Japanese market and pursuing global commercialisation. The two organisations ran the “Startup OI Tokyo #SmartCity” programme in Tokyo at LiSH, a startup hub in Takanawa Gateway City. They also signed an MOU under which D.Camp will identify promising startups and connect them with collaboration opportunities, while JR East will provide a testing environment and network support.

Motif builds proprietary tools instead of Nvidia software for homegrown AI foundation model development

Motif Technologies, a developer of proprietary AI foundation models, is seeking differentiation by using its own platform rather than Nvidia software tools. It says using Nvidia’s general-purpose tools makes it hard to beat big tech firms with superior computing power. Chief Executive Jung-hwan Lim said Nvidia tools limit developer flexibility and can lock users into Nvidia’s ecosystem. Motif uses Nvidia GPUs and CUDA but replaces Nvidia’s model development tools with in-house software.
