OpenAI to expand ChatGPT ad pilot to South Korea in coming weeks
OpenAI said on May 8 it will expand its ChatGPT advertising pilot to five countries including South Korea within weeks. The pilot, now running in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, will also roll out to the United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil and Mexico. Ads will be clearly marked as sponsored content and separated from ChatGPT answers. OpenAI said ads do not influence responses and advertisers cannot access conversations or personal data.

OpenAI unveils GPT-5.5, a step closer to an AI super app
OpenAI unveiled its new AI model, GPT-5.5, and began rolling it out to paying ChatGPT users. The company described it as its smartest and most intuitive model, saying it can reason faster and more precisely with fewer tokens than GPT-5.4. OpenAI also called it progress toward an AI super app that could combine ChatGPT, Codex and an AI browser. It said GPT-5.5 scored higher than prior and rival models on benchmarks.

Anthropic accelerates enterprise AI push with business-focused pricing
Anthropic, which develops the AI chatbot Claude, is accelerating a strategy focused on the enterprise market to differentiate itself from OpenAI and Google. It has boosted annualised revenue by concentrating on selling APIs that plug into corporate workflows and on its coding AI, Claude Code. Annualised revenue rose from $100 million in January 2024 to $1 billion in January 2025 and $14 billion in January 2026. Its pricing is also geared toward businesses and developers.
