OpenAI held its annual developer conference, DevDay 2026, in San Francisco on Sept. 29 local time. It unveiled more than 20 new products and features across ChatGPT, Codex, models and APIs.

The core announcement was dots, an always-on AI agent. It continuously carries out tasks using linked apps and a dedicated cloud computer tailored to a user’s goals. It will be offered first to pro and business premium users in supported regions. Enterprise, education and healthcare users can use it in beta if an administrator enables it.

The new GPT-6.1 Sol model strengthened agent-based coding, computer operation and professional work performance. It offers performance close to the higher-tier GPT-6 Astra at one-fifth of Astra’s token price. The paid high-speed Ultrafast tier increases token generation speed by up to 8 times in Codex, to as many as 300 tokens per second, and by up to 6 times in the API.

For developers, the agent API supports computer operation. A Decisions API using the Luna model, which selects an answer from predefined choices, also launched in a limited preview. With Amazon, it jointly announced Bedrock Managed Agent, which runs OpenAI agents within AWS. OpenAI Private Intelligence for enterprises provides automatic safety checks while maintaining zero data retention (ZDR).

Codex now supports cloud execution, allowing work to continue even if a PC is closed. It also unveiled Codex Security Cloud, which finds vulnerabilities in GitHub repositories and produces fixes.

It also moved to expand its ecosystem. It unveiled a plugin extension that embeds native functions inside ChatGPT and showcased integration cases with Figma and Adobe. Through Login with ChatGPT, Plus and Pro users can use their plan usage across tools from 16 companies including Cognition Devin, Notion and Vercel. It also set up an OpenAI marketplace where enterprise customers can spend part of their contract amount on products from 32 partners including Adobe, Salesforce and CrowdStrike.

In the collaboration space ChatGPT Space, team members work alongside ChatGPT and dots. It introduced Pages, a document feature co-edited by people and AI. It also added a feature that can be called with “@ChatGPT” in Slack and Teams. In subscriptions, it introduced a Pro 500 plan that includes 25 times the usage of Plus and Ultrafast. It also resumed new sign-ups for the Pro 200 plan, which had been temporarily suspended.
