Open-source AI regulation fight evokes early Bitcoin deja vu, U.S. investment firm says
A U.S. investment research firm said the regulatory battle over open-source artificial intelligence is coming to resemble the early Bitcoin market around 2014. Brownstone Research said a growing focus on the risks of open models could bolster the case for closed systems, echoing past pressure on cryptocurrencies. It cited recent moves toward permissioned access tied to identity checks, and reported national security concerns. It also said performance gaps are narrowing and distributed AI is expanding.
