BYD to double capacity at Brazil plant to step up push into South America
Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD plans to double annual capacity at its Brazil plant to 600,000 vehicles and lift local parts sourcing to more than 50 percent. The company is pursuing permits to expand its Camacari plant in Bahia state, though it has not disclosed a completion date. BYD aims to raise monthly output to 25,000 units by year-end, citing demand of about 30,000 a month in Brazil. It is also planning to expand exports in the region.
