AWS expands push into physical AI, builds operations base linking cloud and edge
As physical AI expands into robots, industrial equipment, cameras and autonomous mobile robots, Amazon Web Services is moving to build an operating system that links the cloud and the edge. It unveiled a cloud-edge integrated solution last month for customers developing physical AI systems. AWS said key challenges include data and simulation, latency and post-deployment operations. Partners are building augmented data pipelines and AWS is offering cloud infrastructure, data services and edge management tools.

Synology launches DP5200 backup appliance with AI-based security, support for large workloads
Synology said on Tuesday it has launched the 1U ActiveProtect Appliance DP5200 and expanded its ActiveProtect lineup targeting data-protection demand from small and medium-sized businesses. The company said the DP5200 combines workload management and AI-based security features in a compact design. It supports up to 36TB and includes ActiveProtect Manager enterprise backup functions. It supports virtualisation platforms, physical infrastructure, SaaS apps and databases, with additional platforms to be added in APM 2.0.

Lulumedic launches AWS-based medical mydata platform, deploys healthcare LLM
Lulumedic said on May 18 it has built its AI and cloud-based next-generation medical mydata service on Amazon Web Services. It cited rising demand in South Korea for patients to consolidate and manage dispersed medical records. The company said security concerns and strict compliance requirements have hindered AI adoption. It said it uses an isolated network within the AWS Seoul Region and deploys a healthcare-focused large language model trained on SageMaker AI, with inference run on Amazon EC2.
