Solana launches Alpenglow on mainnet, aims to cut transaction time by 99 percent
Solana has applied its first consensus upgrade, Alpenglow, to the mainnet. The upgrade targets cutting transaction finality from about 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds, a 99 percent reduction. It replaces Solana’s TowerBFT model and rolls out in stages, starting with Votor and later adding Rotor. Solana’s dashboard showed 6.6 seconds finality and 4,721 transactions per second on the day.
