Lisa Su says gaming is a very important business for AMD, will expand AI integration
AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su said the company will continue to nurture gaming as a key business even as the AI market expands. She said gaming keeps demanding high computing performance, and AMD plans to apply AI to game graphics and development to improve performance and efficiency. At an event in Seoul, Su and AMD executive Jack Huynh said AMD will support PCs, consoles and handheld devices, expand machine learning technologies, and keep supporting platforms to reduce upgrade burdens.

AMD extends Socket AM5 platform support until at least 2029
AMD will extend support for its desktop CPU Socket AM5 platform until at least 2029, lengthening the period in which users can upgrade to future Ryzen processors without changing motherboards. AMD had previously planned support through 2025, later extending it beyond 2027, and has now set a minimum of 2029. AMD also announced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, priced at $329 and launching on July 16, and said it will re-release the Ryzen 7 5800X3D as a 10th anniversary edition for $349 on June 25.

AI-driven component supply crunch to hit Big Four motherboard makers\' 2026 sales
A deepening shortage of key PC components is driving a sharp drop in motherboard sales as demand for AI hardware surges, Tom\'s Hardware reported on Wednesday. The outlet said Nvidia, Intel and AMD are cutting production of consumer chips to boost AI processor output, lifting prices for parts such as memory modules and storage drives over the past six months. It said the four major motherboard makers have lowered their internal 2026 sales goals.
