KT new CEO Park Yoon-young makes security site inspection first official visit

KT's new chief executive Park Yoon-young (박윤영) made an information security and network operations site visit as his first official schedule after taking office. Park headed to KT's Network and Security Control Centre in Gwacheon, south of Seoul, without holding a separate inauguration event. He reviewed operations and checked major facilities and real-time status, and inspected processes and emergency response systems against cyber threats.

42Maru CEO Kim Dong-hwan says public sector AX must go beyond layering AI onto existing systems

Generative AI startup 42Maru said on Monday its CEO Kim Dong-hwan was appointed a public-sector AX consulting technical adviser at a launch event for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Artificial Intelligence Government Technical Advisory Group in Seoul. The 101-member panel will assess the suitability and completeness of AI technologies for key ministry projects, including the AI National Secretary and 30 AX tasks. Kim warned against superficial AI transformation and urged an AI-native shift across government.

PIPC to launch preemptive checks on personal data protection in finance sector

South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission said on March 31 it will conduct preemptive inspections into how financial companies collect, use and otherwise handle resident registration numbers. The inspections follow sanctions over card companies' violations of obligations for processing such numbers. Starting in April, the commission will check banks, insurers, card companies, securities firms and savings banks that are allowed to process the data under financial laws.
