KB Kookmin Bank conducted hands-on training in generative AI for executives including CEO Lee Hwan-joo (이환주).

KB Kookmin Bank said on Sept. 3 it provided training for executives and division head-level managers on using the generative AI tool Copilot in actual work.

The training was held twice, on Aug. 25 and Sept. 2, and about 50 executives including Lee took part.

The programme was designed in-house without outsourcing. Participants carried out a practical project, using generative AI to draft initial 2027 business plans for the organisations they oversee.

Lee also took part in the training. KB Kookmin Bank plans to expand AI use by first building experience among executives and then spreading it across the organisation.

KB Kookmin Bank set up an "AI CoE" in which AI staff dedicated to each business group lead development of AI agents, and it reflected AI-use measurement indicators in organisational and individual evaluations. It also introduced an "AI Academy" to train AI-specialised staff and an "AI Challenge Program" for all employees.

The bank plans to expand Copilot licences and training to frontline staff in each department. It will pilot its use in the business planning process and then spread best practices across the company.

Lee said, "For AI-use culture to spread quickly across the organisation, leaders must first use AI in actual work and feel its effects." He added, "We will continue to strengthen our AI capabilities."
