Naver has expanded the scope of digital content partnerships under its Naver Plus membership to include educational e-books, following online video services (OTT), music, games and webtoons.

Naver said on Wednesday it has launched EBS e-book, operated by EBS, as a paid optional digital content offering for Naver Plus membership.

Naver Plus membership users can subscribe to the "EBS e-book Elementary-Middle-High All Pass" by paying an additional 9,900 won a month on top of the basic fee. The product offers unlimited access to more than 500 EBS e-books, including children's stories, language-learning books and college entrance exam prep books, along with linked online lectures and a question bank.

EBS has previously offered about 230 elementary and middle school titles for 12,900 won a month and about 340 middle and high school titles for 15,900 won a month. Naver said it worked with EBS to bundle the two subscription products into one and apply a membership-only price.

The subscription can be purchased by the primary Naver Plus membership account holder and then registered under the EBS ID of the holder or their child. A parent who is the primary account holder can choose Netflix as the membership’s basic digital content, while a child can use the additionally purchased EBS e-book service.

Naver Plus membership costs 4,900 won a month, or 3,900 won a month on an annual pass basis. Users can choose one of Netflix, Spotify, PC Game Pass, and Naver Webtoon & Series each month.

Paid subscription options that add content for an extra fee include Spotify for 5,900 won a month and Webtoon & Series cookies for 4,900 won a month. Naver added an EBS e-book product priced at 9,900 won a month.

Jeong Han-na (정한나), Naver’s membership leader, said, "We expanded partnership benefits with EBS into education content so that Naver Plus membership users can enjoy a wider range of content benefits tailored to life stages such as interests, family composition and age." She added, "We will continue to broaden on- and offline, everyday benefits by collaborating with a range of partners."
