The Korea Artificial Intelligence & Software Industry Association (KOSA) said on Tuesday that the Korean Full-Stack AI Consortium completed a proof of concept (PoC) of full-stack AI technology for Aramco Digital’s industrial use cases.

The Korean Full-Stack AI Consortium is a cooperative body made up of South Korean companies in AI semiconductors, cloud infrastructure, large language models (LLMs), AI application services and integrated operations management.

Seven companies took part in the demonstration: MegazoneCloud, FuriosaAI, Rebellions, Upstage, LG AI Research, NC AI and Uracle.

FuriosaAI and Rebellions were responsible for AI semiconductors, while Upstage and LG AI Research handled industrial specialised LLMs. NC AI was in charge of 3D modelling, MegazoneCloud handled building and operating AI and multicloud infrastructure, and Uracle took charge of LLM and neural processing unit (NPU) operations and AI resource management.

The demonstration was carried out in 2 phases based on an AI full-stack cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) that KOSA and the consortium signed with Aramco Digital in February.

In the first PoC, the group reviewed whether AI could interpret 2D engineering drawings and documents and convert them into 3D models, as well as the integrated control function.

In the second PoC, it expanded the scope to cover the process of generating 3D models after AI interprets and structures unstructured drawings and documents. It also verified, within a single architecture, inference using South Korean AI semiconductors, multicloud environment configuration, security 대응, and integrated operations of AI services and infrastructure.

KOSA explained that the demonstration confirmed the possibility of applying South Korean companies’ combined technologies to overseas industrial sites, going beyond simply supplying individual AI solutions by linking data processing, AI inference, service implementation and infrastructure operations management.

KOSA Chairman Jun-hee Cho (조준희) said, "This demonstration is highly meaningful in that South Korean AI companies combined their specialised technologies to jointly review real demand at overseas industrial sites," adding, "From the perspective of sovereign AI, it is important to secure capabilities in one’s own AI infrastructure and models, as well as operations management."
