SK Broadband said on Tuesday that its B tv "AI 5 set-top box" has won all four of the world's major design awards.
The AI 5 set-top box received Japan's Good Design Award last year. It won Germany's iF Design Award in March, the Red Dot Design Award in April and the U.S. IDEA Design Award main prize in August.
The product features a circular design and a matte black colour. It reduces external elements such as top buttons and logos. Key functions can be used via AI voice and the user interface (UI).
SK Broadband explained that it carried out surface processing tests to implement surface texture while maintaining durability. It also said the rear, where cables and terminals gather, was designed to reduce external exposure.
LED brightness can be adjusted in 5 levels. It also reduced the LED size to lessen glare during night viewing.
Cho Hyung-joon (조형준), head of SK Broadband's Media Tech Division, said the award reflected recognition of the product's competitiveness and design capabilities. He said the company would continue to introduce devices that incorporate design and technology.
