Neptune said on Tuesday it has signed a global publishing deal for 'Makdaboni Cheonhatongil', a roguelike defense game developed by Chinese game developer Kaixinjia.

'Makdaboni Cheonhatongil' was released in China in late May 2025 as a WeChat mini game. About 7 months after its launch, it recorded cumulative sales of 260 million yuan, or about 50 billion won. It entered the top 10 in the WeChat mini game revenue rankings and stayed in the top 100 for more than 6 months.

Each round takes about 5 minutes to play. Instead of waiting for enemies to swarm in, it applies a charge-style combat system in which players lead troops and sortie directly.

During battles, players can choose 1 of 3 options presented at random to deploy a new unit type or strengthen an existing one. Depending on the choice, the unit combinations and combat patterns change.

Unit types include melee, ranged, cavalry, magic and summoning. Users can combine the roles of each unit type to design combat strategies such as defensive or area-attack setups.

The game also has a formation system for collecting and developing Three Kingdoms commanders. Players can assign figures such as Guanyu and Lu Bu either as commanders who deploy to the battlefield or as strategists who raise the stats of the entire allied force.

It also supports a progression system in which resources accumulate based on progress even when users are not logged in, as well as cooperative play. It provides cooperative and competitive content including alliance missions, training and battles.

Neptune plans to release the game in the second half of this year in global markets including South Korea. It is currently working on localisation and service preparations by region.

Kwon Seung-hyun (권승현), head of Neptune's game business division and vice president, said 'Makdaboni Cheonhatongil' delivers diverse combat patterns depending on user decisions even with concise gameplay. He said the company will do its best on localisation and service preparations so global users can enjoy the game stably.
