Physical AI company NC AI said on Tuesday it has officially launched VARCO Sound, a generative AI audio platform that can create and edit sound through natural-language conversation.

VARCO Sound is a service that uses AI to create and edit audio needed for content production such as games, video and animation. Since the beta service launch in January, it has improved audio generation performance and added functions reflecting feedback from content producers and sound designers.

The official version newly applies a "sound agent" that can run sound creation and editing tools through natural language. When a user inputs the desired task as text, the AI identifies the intent and automatically runs the required functions.

It also strengthened functions to transform generated audio. When a user inputs the desired feel as text, such as "more metallic" or "heavier," or presents reference audio, it reflects that to generate a new sound.

Its video-based sound generation function was advanced to have the AI analyse movement and situations in the input video and generate multiple elements such as Foley, sound effects (SFX) and ambience. The generated sounds are provided not as a single file but in separate multitrack form, allowing users to select or replace the needed tracks.

It also added an "auto volume mixing" function that automatically adjusts volume balance across multiple tracks. The maximum length of audio that can be generated increased to 60 seconds from 20 seconds, and it plans to support video input of up to 120 seconds in the future.

NC AI also launched a dedicated desktop application and a Unity plugin to enable integration with existing content production environments. Audio assets made in the desktop app can be moved to a digital audio workstation (DAW) by drag and drop.

Using the Unity plugin, game developers can input text or images within the engine to create and edit sound and apply it to projects.

Lee Yeon-soo (이연수), chief executive of NC AI, said, "The official version of VARCO Sound has evolved into a practical AI platform tailored for real-world work that does not disrupt creators' processes and improves efficiency." He added, "We will continue advancing the technology and platform integration."
