KT M Mobile will introduce Smart Forms, a tablet-based electronic sign-up application, for the first time in the budget mobile sector.

KT M Mobile will apply Smart Forms at mobile telecommunications offline retail stores nationwide to improve sign-up convenience and strengthen personal data protection, it said on Tuesday.

Smart Forms converts existing paper sign-up applications into tablet-based electronic documents. When a customer’s ID and SIM or eSIM information are photographed, key fields are filled in automatically. As a result, the average time to complete an application will fall to about 3 minutes from 15 minutes. Activation time is also expected to drop to about 5 to 10 minutes from 20 to 30 minutes.

It also strengthened personal data protection features. After activation is completed, the application is sent to the customer’s mobile phone and no paper application is kept separately. A recording function is also applied during the process, strengthening a customer protection system to prevent fraudulent use such as identity theft.

Byun Seok-ju (변석주), executive vice president and head of the Business Operations Division at KT M Mobile, said, "With the industry’s first introduction of Smart Forms, we will be able to take the budget mobile sign-up experience to the next level," and added, "We will work to improve customer convenience and strengthen personal data protection by expanding the use of Smart Forms."
