[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Inference AI agent developer Turing said on Sept. 1 it raised 7 billion won in a Series B funding round.
Korea Development Bank, Kingo Investment Partners and Company K Partners joined the round as new investors. Existing investor Kolon Investment also participated.
Turing operates GPAI, an AI agent that supports university students across their workflows based on inference AI technology. The company said GPAI provides outputs needed for college life, from class study to preparation for assignments and exams, and team projects, using inference technology, visualisation based on its in-house image engine and AI-native document processing technology. It said sign-ups topped 1.5 million within a year of launch and that it is growing mainly in South Korea and the United States.
With the investment, Turing also presented a new vision for GPAI. The core plan is to expand beyond an AI agent specialised for STEM to an AI service for all university students worldwide regardless of major.
The company said the shift reflects demand from students seeking AI across the study process regardless of major. It said it will expand the service to support workflows for all university students beyond specific fields.
A Turing official said, "This funding round is the result of recognition for the inference AI capabilities Turing has built and GPAI's potential for global growth." The official added, "We will develop GPAI into the AI service that university students around the world turn to first, regardless of major or country."
