Busan Regional Post Office is moving to support sales channels for small business owners in Geoje and Tongyeong in South Gyeongsang Province who suffered damage from heavy rain.

The Busan Regional Post Office said on Aug. 31 it will run the "Hope Sharing Special Promotion for Heavy Rain-Damaged Areas" on its Post Office Shopping mall through next month 27.

The promotion was arranged to help small business owners in Geoje and in Sanyang-eup and Bongpyeong-dong in Tongyeong secure online sales channels and to support efforts to revitalise the local economy after recent heavy rain damage. It will sell various local products, including agricultural and seafood items and processed foods produced and sold in the Geoje and Tongyeong areas.

Customers will receive discount benefits worth up to 7,000 won, including a 7 percent discount coupon and a 3,000 won discount coupon. The 7 percent coupon applies up to 4,000 won and is provided on a first-come, first-served basis once per ID during the event period. The promotion can be accessed through a dedicated banner on the Post Office Shopping mall on PC and mobile, as well as on the Post Office Shopping app.

Earlier, heavy rain that continued from Aug. 15 to 18 caused damage in Geoje and Tongyeong, including flooded homes and traditional markets, damaged roads and landslides. The government on Aug. 21 first designated all of Geoje and Sanyang-eup and Bongpyeong-dong in Tongyeong as special disaster zones.

Heo Won-seok (허원석), head of the Busan Regional Post Office, said, "As small 관심 and consumption become a great 힘 for the 피해지역, I ask for the public's active participation."
