[DigitalToday reporter Ho-jeong Lee] Nexon said on Aug. 31 it opened a fall-season collaboration event, 'MapleStory in Lotte World Busan', using the 'MapleStory' intellectual property (IP) at Lotte World Adventure Busan on Aug. 29.

The event runs for 86 days through Nov. 22 across Lotte World Busan. It expands an offline IP event to Busan following a spring-season collaboration operated from March to June at Lotte World Adventure Jamsil.

The venue is designed around a storyline in which a group of mushrooms appearing through a portal created by Pink Bean takes over the 'Magic Forest'. It reflects the journey of visitors becoming 'MapleStory' heroes who set out to resolve the chaos through content and spatial production.

At the Garden Stage, created with the in-game 'Mushroom Castle' as a motif, the event runs a 'Make Your Own Character' program. After scanning a QR code and choosing hair and outfits, the completed character appears on a digital panel on the stage. 'MapleStory' users can also load characters they have raised in the game. The content drew 130,000 participants at the Jamsil event.

Across the park, the event runs a mobile stamp rally to collect gifts from Princess Violetta's garden party. It also presents performances including the parade 'MapleStory: Dance Together!' with new monster dancers, 'MapleStory Pink Bean Photo Time' held in front of the Talking Tree, 'MapleStory Busking' and the 'Pink Bean Greeting Band'.

On site, it has set up a time-space portal for 'Pink Bean' and a space recreating the in-game area 'Henesys'. It also runs a photo zone themed around Princess Violetta's 'Garden Party', along with a 6-metre-tall 'Orange Mushroom' air balloon with bubble effects.

In the merchandise sales area, it sells the Orange Mushroom plush hat shown at the Jamsil event and goods exclusive to the Busan event. It also offers drinks themed on 'Red Potion' and 'Blue Potion' and food and beverage menu items unveiled for the first time in Busan. It also operates four-cut photos with character frames, photo cards and a capsule toy zone.

Nexon also operates 'Maple Island', a permanent 'MapleStory' theme zone, in the outdoor area Magic Island at Lotte World Adventure Jamsil.
