SK Telecom said on Sunday it has opened an industry-academia course with Seoul National University to nurture future artificial intelligence (AI) talent.

SKT will open the "SKT-Seoul National University AI joint programme" for graduate students at Seoul National University’s department of electrical and computer engineering in the second half of 2026 and run it for 15 weeks. The course curriculum is organised into three areas in line with SKT’s full-stack AI capabilities: AI apps and services, AI modelling and AI infrastructure. SKT plans to share with students its AI technology research outcomes and actual commercialisation cases.

On Sept. 1, SKT Chief Executive Officer Jae-heon Jung (정재헌) will deliver the first special lecture on the theme of "Choices and Opportunities in the AI Era". He will introduce to about 300 Seoul National University graduate and undergraduate students how AI technology is changing industry and society and SKT’s vision for the future of AI.

After that, Yu Kyung-sang (유경상), head of SKT’s AI CIC, and Tae-yoon Kim (김태윤), who is in charge of foundation models, along with SKT AI development organisation executives, team leaders and doctorate-level staff, will take turns lecturing and share experience accumulated in the field.

This is the 10th year SKT has operated AI lectures with Seoul National University. SKT explained that the course has been well received as a programme that links theory and practice, including receiving high lecture evaluation scores from the university’s graduate students.

Jung said, "It is deeply meaningful that the industry-academia cooperation built with Seoul National University over a long time is being 이어지게 돼 once again through this course," adding, "We will continue cooperation with academia so that today’s students can lead tomorrow’s AI industry."
