Wemade Max said on Tuesday it posted second-quarter consolidated revenue of 33.7 billion won, an operating loss of 15.4 billion won and a net loss of 14.4 billion won.

Second-quarter revenue rose 2.1 percent from a year earlier and 3.1 percent from the previous quarter. The operating loss narrowed 7.6 percent from a year earlier, shrinking the deficit.

That brought the company’s first-half revenue to 66.4 billion won and the net loss to 25.5 billion won.

The company explained that revenue increased on the back of performance from existing live services and that it is continuing to improve its business structure.

Its HTML5 massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Flyff Universe held the global esports tournament FWC (Flyff Universe World Championship). The game’s average daily active users (DAU) and concurrent users (CCU) in the first half rose more than 20 percent from a year earlier, while monthly active users (MAU) recorded double-digit growth.

Night Crows carried out an update marking its third anniversary since launch and is preparing to enter the local market after obtaining a foreign-invested game licence in China. Silkroad, which is approaching its 20th service anniversary, is expanding into mobile intellectual property (IP) business.

Wemade Max is working to improve its business structure by raising operating efficiency by project and maintaining investment in its core development organisation.

It will also roll out its new game lineup from the second half. Developer Mad Engine is preparing to unveil the global MMORPG Night Crows W in the second half of this year. The game will be provided as a one-build global service, and the company plans to incorporate an artificial intelligence (AI)-based companion system.

It is also developing in-house the open-world action role-playing game (RPG) Project TAL, the subculture Project MO and Mir 5. Wemade Connect is preparing new titles based on the Hundred Note IP, including the collectible RPG Noah.

Wemade Max CEO Son Myeon-seok (손면석) said, "We will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of our existing live services, while securing new momentum through new titles to be introduced from the second half and delivering results in global markets."
