Smilegate said on Thursday it will officially release the new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "Eclipse: The Awakening" (Eclipse), developed by Npixel, on Sept. 10.
Eclipse is a game that supports cross-platform play on mobile and PC. It positions itself as "MMOLite," aiming to reduce player fatigue while keeping the genre's core growth and competition elements.
Key differentiators include a time-based growth system called "Sanctum," strategic combat through skill fusion, and optional player-versus-player (PvP) play.
Ahead of the launch, Smilegate is running pre-registration through the official website, Google Play and the Apple App Store. Participants will receive items needed for early progression, including a "Transcend Summon Ticket" and a "Weapon Appearance Selection Ticket."
It also plans to provide a limited skin to users who add the official KakaoTalk channel. It will guarantee rewards such as a legendary-grade summon ticket and the hero-grade accessory "Eclipse Ring" through coupons released each week, and it plans to run a prize event offering tablet devices as well.
Shin Jae-ik (신재익), a director at Smilegate, said, "We plan to sequentially unveil a variety of content that allows players to experience the appeal of MMOLite." He added, "We will continue to improve the game's completeness until the official release."
