Park In-hwan (박인환), head of the Postal Service, visited the CU Konkuk University Management Building store in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on Wednesday to inspect the operating status of a rest shelter for postmen.

The Postal Service said it has designated 174 directly operated CU stores nationwide as postman rest shelters in cooperation with BGF Retail, as delivery conditions have worsened with frequent extreme heat severe alerts recently issued. The two sides plan to continue expanding the number of stores operating shelters.

Stores designated as shelters will have a postman rest shelter sticker attached to their entrance doors. Postmen can rest inside the stores while on duty regardless of whether they buy products. Starting in September, discounts on beverages and ready-to-eat meals will also be offered to postmen.

Park checked on-site conditions including the shelter's visibility, whether postman vehicles can be parked, and the placement of tables and chairs. He thanked BGF Retail for providing the postman rest shelters and asked for continued cooperation to expand them.
