Toss Securities' cumulative number of subscribers has topped 10 million. Its customer base, which initially centered on people in their 20s and 30s, is expanding to those aged 40 and above.
Toss Securities said on Thursday that cumulative subscribers holding Toss Securities accounts exceeded 10 million in July. Based on South Korea's total population of about 51.6 million, that is roughly 1 in 5 people.
The milestone comes 5 years and 4 months after Toss Securities launched its mobile trading system (MTS) in March 2021. It added 3 million subscribers in 13 months after reaching 7 million cumulative subscribers in June last year.
Monthly active users (MAU) totaled 6.5 million in July.
The age range is also widening. The share of subscribers in their 20s and 30s, about 70 percent in the early days after launch, has fallen to about 50 percent. Subscribers aged 40 and above account for about 43 percent of the total.
In the first half of this year, growth in new subscribers was larger among middle-aged and older people. New subscribers in their 50s rose by about 3 times from the same period a year earlier, while those aged 60 and above increased by about 4 times. Over the same period, new subscribers in their 20s rose by about 2 times.
Toss Securities CEO Kim Gyubin (김규빈) said, "Based on this result, we will improve access to investment information and grow into a platform where anyone can invest easily and conveniently."
