An infant and toddler DHA product aimed at brain and eye health has launched. Hecto Healthcare's baby and kids health food brand Gim SeokjinLAB is taking part in the Kobe Baby Fair at Kintex in Ilsan from Aug. 6 to 9 and will unveil its new product, 'Our Child DHA Smart Drops', for the first time, it said on Wednesday.

Gim SeokjinLAB is a baby and kids-focused brand operated together with De Simone, a premium probiotic brand owned by Hecto Healthcare. It is expanding its nutrition product lineup by growth stage, focusing on probiotics, omega-3 and vitamin D.

'Our Child DHA Smart Drops' is an omega-3 product for infants and toddlers that contains plant-based DHA, a component of the brain and retina. It uses DHA in a TG (triglyceride) form similar to the fatty acid structure found in nature and blends in Korean perilla oil rich in alpha-linolenic acid. It is designed as liquid drops to be added to baby food, formula and soups.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said in its 2023 guidelines on complementary foods for infants and young children that the first 2 years after birth are a critical period for brain development and the formation of cognitive functions. DHA is one of the main fatty acids that make up nerve tissue in the brain and the retina of the eye. Gim SeokjinLAB plans to introduce ways to consume DHA from early infancy through the growth period at the event.

During the event, visitors who sign up for Naver Lounge will receive a De Simone probiotic trial pack and a tarpaulin bag. Customers who buy on-site will be offered gifts such as a three-piece soap set and multivitamin gummies.

A Hecto Healthcare official said the Kobe Baby Fair would allow parents to look directly at nutrition solutions needed for children from early infancy through the growth period and choose products suited to their child. The official added the company would continue to expand various points of contact with consumers through Gim SeokjinLAB and convey the brand's value.
