More than 210,000 subscribers have left KT since it began waiving contract termination fees.
Industry data on Jan. 11 showed that 216,203 customers ported their numbers from KT to other mobile carriers or MVNOs from Dec. 31 to Jan. 10. Excluding MVNOs, 74.2 percent moved to SK Telecom over the period.
On Jan. 10, 33,305 subscribers left KT. It was the first time daily departures exceeded 30,000 since the fee waiver began. Of those who left KT that day, 22,193 moved to SK Telecom, 8,077 to LG Uplus and 3,035 to MVNOs.
The high share moving to SK Telecom is seen as being influenced by factors such as membership benefits. SK Telecom runs a program to restore years of service and membership tier if customers who canceled between April 19, 2025 and July 14, 2025 rejoin.
KT's fee waiver period runs through Jan. 13. The industry sees a high possibility of a late surge in number porting over the final two days.
