Oh Hwa-kyung (오화경), head of the Korea Federation of Savings Banks, joined a relay campaign aimed at preventing harm from illegal private lending and promoting the social spread of inclusive finance.
The federation said on Aug. 5 that Oh joined the 'Life-Saving Finance' relay campaign run by the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency.
The campaign is a public-interest drive set up to protect people facing difficulties from illegal private lending and to spread the values of finance as a public good and inclusion.
Oh joined the campaign after being nominated by Kim Eun-kyung (김은경), head of the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency. The federation explained it expects the participation to help expand social interest in preventing damage from illegal private lending and in policy-backed finance for ordinary people.
Oh named Jeong Seong-ung (정성웅), head of the Korea Loan Finance Association, and Kim Moon-seok (김문석), CEO of SBI Savings Bank, as the next participants.
Oh said, "Finance should be a social safety net beyond simple funding support." He said, "I will put into practice on the ground the value of 'Life-Saving Finance' so that ordinary people and vulnerable groups are not driven into illegal private lending and the funds they need can be delivered on time."
