Synopsys said on Sunday it has appointed Moon Sung-soo (문성수) as head of Synopsys Korea’s Simulation & Analysis business.

Moon has led regional business for more than 10 years, having served at Altair as managing director of its South Korea unit, senior vice president for the Asia-Pacific region, and senior vice president overseeing Japan and South Korea. He later served as vice president of the Global Simulation Practice at Siemens Digital Industries Software, leading global simulation business strategy.

Before that, he began his career as an engineer at Kia Motors, handling crashworthiness engineering work.

On the appointment, Moon Seok-hwan (문석환), vice president and head of APAC S&A business at Synopsys, said South Korea is a key strategic market in the Asia-Pacific region, based on core manufacturing industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, shipbuilding and defense. He said Moon is a proven leader who has driven organisational innovation and digital transformation across industries, and the right person to strengthen cooperation with Korean customers and effectively convey to them the combined value of Synopsys and Ansys.

Moon said he was very pleased to begin a new journey as head of Synopsys Korea’s S&A business. He said Ansys has achieved remarkable growth in recent years and has maintained leadership in engineering simulation. He said the merger of Synopsys and Ansys will create synergies by combining the Ansys portfolio with Synopsys EDA solutions. He said South Korea is a key market that has accounted for a significant portion of global sales, and he will do his utmost to work more closely with customers and further accelerate business growth.
