Shinhan Bank provided training for 80 middle school students on planning and producing video content using artificial intelligence (AI). Participants produced one-minute public campaign videos on environmental and social issues and presented their work through a hackathon.
Shinhan Bank said on Sunday it concluded the fifth Shinhan AI Creator Camp held from July 30 to Aug. 1 at Yonsei University’s Sinchon campus.
The camp included 80 middle school students with relatively limited access to digital education opportunities. It was run with participants commuting to campus each day, and covered the full process from developing video ideas using AI tools to planning, production and presentations.
On the final day, a team-project hackathon was held under the theme, "One Minute That Changes the World, AI ESG Public Campaign." Participants produced and presented videos delivering public-interest messages about environmental and social issues, and scholarships were awarded to the winning team.
Employees from Shinhan Bank’s AX Group and Tech Group took part as hackathon volunteers, advising team projects and checking compliance with AI ethics. Students from Yonsei University’s coding education volunteer club, "Protein," also joined as education supporters to assist with hands-on training.
Shinhan Bank has supported AI and coding education for young people since 2022. To expand related projects, it also signed a four-way business agreement with Yonsei University’s AI-Centered University Project Group, the Salvation Army Kettle and IDC Asia.
Under the agreement, the four institutions plan to run AI and digital education and research programmes that support the growth of future generations and to jointly identify social contribution projects.
A Shinhan Bank official said, "We hope this served as an opportunity for young people to understand AI technology correctly and directly turn their own ideas into content."
