Kbank has adopted an autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) system that supports development work across areas such as code generation, system analysis and internal knowledge searches. It aims to cut time spent on repetitive coding and data searches so developers can focus on service design and technology upgrades.

Kbank said on Sunday it has introduced "agentic AI" that supports the entire development process.

Agentic AI is an autonomous AI technology that designs the steps needed to achieve a goal presented by a user and carries out tasks using various tools.

Under the newly introduced system, when a developer enters a service function to implement, it generates the required code. If asked for improvements to an existing service or a code review, it analyses the system structure and suggests directions for improvement.

Built within the company intranet environment, it can also use internal system information such as staff contact details, internal rules, development standards and work templates. Developers can check, while developing new functions, who is in charge of related products and which internal rules must be applied.

Kbank ran a two-month pilot ahead of the formal rollout. During the period, 50 developers used a total of 4 billion tokens. Kbank said that is a level of text processing equivalent to a developer reading and analysing 10 books of about 300 pages each per day on average.

Kbank plans to expand connected internal systems and develop agentic AI into an integrated AI platform that supports development and collaboration overall. It will also upgrade performance based on a graphics processing unit (GPU) platform it is pushing to build within the year.

A Kbank official said, "Agentic AI is an AI development partner that reduces the burden of repetitive code writing and data searching and supports developers so they can focus on service design and problem solving." The official added, "We will internalise AI technology to raise development productivity and technological competitiveness."
