Apple is reviewing a plan to add iCloud+-based paid upgrade options for users who make heavy use of Siri AI.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said on an earnings conference call on July 31 that Apple could offer additional usage options through iCloud+ for users who need more computing resources for Siri AI.

Cook said he expects there will be users who want to use Siri AI heavily, and that Apple is considering a plan to let them buy higher-tier upgrades through iCloud+. He added the plan has not been finalised.

That is similar to a structure in which Anthropic and OpenAI offer limited free versions and then attach paid subscriptions for higher usage.

The new Siri AI is currently available in the iOS 27 beta and is due for broader release this fall. Apple has adopted a licence for Google's customised Gemini model to strengthen Siri.
