[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] Charles Hoskinson (찰스 호스킨슨) has sought to set up a political organisation within the Cardano ecosystem and asked the community for support.

On July 30 local time, blockchain media outlet The Crypto Basic reported that Hoskinson argued Cardano must fix its decentralised governance structure to revive its growth momentum.

The core of the proposal is to create a political organisation within on-chain governance that can coordinate key decision-making. Hoskinson viewed rising cynicism and pessimism within Cardano as making it difficult to execute long-term strategy. He said that if the community grants him sufficient support and authority, he will clear away the negative mood that has slowed the ecosystem’s development.

Hoskinson also dismissed the possibility that he might leave the project. He said Cardano has taken up most of his meaningful adult life and he has no intention of leaving. He sees current governance problems not as a reason to give up but as a challenge to overcome, and said he will continue to take on his role for the next stage of development.

His push for a political organisation comes after months of governance conflict. Several treasury projects linked to Hoskinson were rejected, which also affected the cancellation of the 'Cardano Summit 2026' event. He initially reviewed taking on the role of a delegated representative, or DRep, but later expanded the idea into a broader political organisation.

He then stressed that a governance overhaul should not end with a simple internal power realignment. He said Cardano needs to refocus on ecosystem growth and wider real-world use. He said stronger leadership would help improve marketing, accelerate user adoption and establish a clearer growth strategy. He argued that internal political disputes must be settled so the ecosystem can focus on attracting developers, companies and new users.

He added that the final decision rests with ADA holders and stakeholders. Hoskinson said he is ready to take on stronger executive leadership if the community wants it, but acknowledged it is stakeholders’ choice to select another leader. He stressed that whoever leads, Cardano must unite under a consistent long-term strategy to succeed.

If launched, the political organisation will take on the role of a key delegated representative within Cardano’s on-chain governance system. It aims to coordinate decisions on development direction, treasury allocation and long-term strategy, and to serve as a structured channel for ADA holders to enter governance through membership participation and voting. Hoskinson said earlier this month that the plan is nearing completion, but did not disclose a specific launch date.

Ultimately, the proposal is expected to be a test of whether Cardano can maintain decentralised governance while increasing its capacity to execute. Hoskinson said he remains confident about Cardano’s future and that he still has the energy and will to pull together once again to solve the ecosystem’s difficult problems.
