Kakao Games said on July 31 it will officially launch "World of Dokkaebi," a new mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) being developed by Supercat, in October.

Ahead of the October launch, Kakao Games will sequentially hold pre-registrations in August and a showcase in September. Through the September showcase, it plans to disclose in advance the game’s core systems and service-related information.

Along with confirming the launch schedule, it also unveiled the game’s representative illustration for the first time. Centered on "Mongryeon," a key character linking the original web novel "Myeolgwi Sudojeon" and the game, it depicted character design, traditional clothing and a lantern to create a Korean background.

"World of Dokkaebi" is a mobile game that adopts 2.5D hybrid graphics combining 2D dot characters with 3D backgrounds. It plans to offer growth without class boundaries, free skill combinations through a deck-building system, and clan-centered cooperative content.

The fantasy web novel "Myeolgwi Sudojeon," the original work for the game, began serialization on Naver Webtoon on July 22. It ranked among the top 3 overall within a day, as it expands its intellectual property (IP).

Cha Myung-soo (차명수), head of business at Kakao Games, said, "We are raising final completion to fully show the differentiated fun unique to World of Dokkaebi." He added, "We will sequentially unveil various aspects of the game through pre-registrations and the showcase, so we ask for users’ great interest and anticipation."
