Hancom Lifecare, a Hancom Group affiliate specialising in defence and safety equipment, said on Thursday it posted preliminary consolidated second-quarter revenue of about 55.1 billion won, operating profit of about 7.6 billion won and net profit of about 6.8 billion won.

Revenue rose 103 percent from a year earlier and operating profit climbed 168 percent. The second-quarter operating margin was 13.8 percent. The company said profitability rose sharply as deliveries of high value-added defence equipment gathered pace, supported by efficiency improvements and an optimised cost structure.

The company said simultaneous growth in the defence and fire-fighting and safety businesses had a positive impact on results. In defence, deliveries for the first and second GLTD batches were successfully completed in June. In fire-fighting and safety, the company said the effect of new high value-added products became visible on top of its sales base for key products such as air respirators.

Hancom Lifecare expanded cooperation with Shark Robotics on defence and explosive ordnance disposal robots at the land defence exhibition Eurosatory 2026 in June, following a domestic supply agreement signed in May. It aims to take an early lead in the nascent domestic unmanned fire-fighting robot market by combining proven robot technology with its fire-fighting sales and after-sales service network, which has more than 90 percent domestic market share, and to rapidly expand into the defence market.

Hancom Lifecare CEO Sun-young Kim (김선영) said, "This year's second quarter was a quarter that delivered a clear performance rebound as the full reflection of defence business deliveries coincided with the effect of new fire-fighting products." Kim said, "In the second half, defence business sales will continue to ramp up, including deliveries of the K5 gas mask, and if unmanned fire-fighting robots being pursued as a future new business also gain a foothold, the scale of growth will widen further."
