[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] AI and cloud company MegazoneCloud said on Wednesday it will supply quantum circuit simulator software QXel developed by quantum software company Qubistack.

QXel is a high-performance quantum circuit simulator developed by Qubistack. It supports designing quantum algorithms and verifying performance in a virtual environment without a physical quantum computer, using auxiliary storage offloading technology that eases memory limits in existing computing environments.

The auxiliary storage offloading technology expands memory limits to as many as 43 qubits by placing GPU memory and auxiliary storage in a hierarchical configuration. MegazoneCloud said it expects this will allow companies, and educational and research institutions, that find it difficult to build costly quantum computers directly to test and verify quantum algorithms in a safe and economical environment, lowering costs and technical burdens for adopting quantum computing.

QXel is compatible with major quantum development tools provided by IBM, Amazon and others. It also supports large-scale quantum computation performance and scalability through automatic partitioning, hierarchical memory design and multi-node scaling technology.

The two companies plan to provide QXel through on-premise deployments built into customers’ internal systems and as a cloud-based SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) offering.

MegazoneCloud will use the contract to conduct QXel sales activities and market research in domestic and overseas markets, as well as global marketing and promotion. It also plans to provide technical support to customers that purchase the product to help ensure stable operations.

MegazoneCloud CQO Dongho Kim (김동호) said, “For the quantum computing market to grow in earnest, companies and research institutions need an environment where they can develop and verify quantum algorithms without major upfront investment.” He said, “Based on QXel, we will connect on-premise and cloud, and HPC and AI infrastructure to lower barriers for customers to adopt quantum computing and expand practical use cases.”
