ScatterLab said on Wednesday it will hold the 'Zeta Global Creator Contest' with Barunson E&A through Aug. 9, with total prize money of 100 million won.

The event is the first global official creation contest run by Zeta, ScatterLab’s AI interactive entertainment service. Any creator active in South Korea and Japan can participate.

Zeta is a service in which users create their own characters and world settings, interact with AI in real time and develop stories. ScatterLab said it expanded the service to Japan and the United States after its domestic launch in 2024, reaching 10 million cumulative global sign-ups and about 3 million cumulative pieces of content.

ScatterLab and Barunson E&A plan to use the contest to discover outstanding world settings, characters and stories and expand them into content intellectual property.

Submissions are accepted in 5 genres: romance and relationships, growth and adventure, mystery and thriller, simulation and role-playing games, and daily life and drama. Entries will be accepted on the Zeta platform through Aug. 9.

After an internal evaluation based on world settings, characters and originality, the organisers will select finalists. Industry experts will then judge the entries, with final winners to be announced in early September.

Final judges will include film director Hang-jun Jang (장항준), director Maggie Kang (매기 강) of the animation 'K-pop Demon Hunters', and author Sansaniga Han (한산이가), who wrote the web novel 'Severe Trauma Center: Golden Hour'.

Jong-yoon Kim (김종윤), chief executive of ScatterLab, said he hopes the contest will give creators in South Korea and Japan a chance to meet more users and expand their own world settings.
