[DigitalToday reporter Seul-gi Son] Anthropic will raise the monthly subscription price of its generative AI service Claude in South Korea’s Apple App Store by 10 percent. The move follows a global App Store price realignment in U.S. dollar terms to reflect exchange-rate changes.
According to an Apple App Store subscription notice dated July 24, the Claude Pro monthly subscription price will rise by 3,000 won to 33,000 won from 30,000 won starting on Aug. 22.
Existing subscribers can continue their subscription at the higher price if they agree to the change. If they do not agree, the subscription will end on Aug. 22.
Anthropic told DigitalToday, "This increase is not limited to Korea," adding, "On June 29, we adjusted App Store prices globally in a single batch to reflect exchange-rate fluctuations and realigned prices in all markets to a single USD baseline."
It added, "The change in Korea from 30,000 won to 33,000 won is also due to the global price realignment," and said, "This is not a separate increase targeting only Korea."
Under the adjustment, subscription prices rose in some markets including South Korea. Prices fell in some markets including Britain, Japan and Australia.
Claude’s personal plans consist of Free, Pro and Max. In the United States, the Pro plan is $20 a month. The Max plan, which has usage limits 5 times and 20 times higher than Pro, costs $100 and $200 a month.
