Integrated security company AhnLab introduced AhnLab TIP API, which provides various threat information from its next-generation threat intelligence platform, AhnLab TIP, in the form of application programming interfaces (API), the company said on Wednesday.
AhnLab explained that as customer demand has increased to link threat intelligence to various security solutions, it decided to offer the API function, which it has been providing along with its existing portal service, as a separate product.
According to the company, AhnLab TIP supports customers' security decision-making by providing threat intelligence collected and analysed by AhnLab. The newly launched AhnLab TIP API provides key AhnLab TIP threat information such as malicious IPs, URLs, domains and files in the globally standard RESTful API format. Unlike the existing AhnLab TIP, which is a portal-based service, AhnLab TIP API is an API-only product focused on integration with other security solutions.
AhnLab TIP API supports customers in automatically searching for threat information that is highly relevant to their own security environments and immediately reflecting it in security policies and response processes.
AhnLab TIP API was designed with integration with various security environments in mind and can be applied to security solutions that customers operate based on globally standard interfaces. It supports integration not only with AhnLab products such as EDR and firewalls, but also with third-party security solutions and SIEM and SOAR systems built in-house by customers.
AhnLab also launched AhnLab TIP Starter along with the API-only product. It supports existing and new customers using AhnLab security solutions in trying AhnLab TIP at a reasonable cost.
Chang-hee Kim (김창희), head of AhnLab's Product Planning Division, said that as cyber threats in and outside South Korea become more sophisticated, interest in threat intelligence for proactive security is rising, and customer demand is also increasing to link it to security solutions via APIs to upgrade security operations systems. He said AhnLab TIP API is an optimal choice that can maximise the usefulness of threat intelligence in terms of integration with heterogeneous security solutions as well as cost.
