Block, led by Jack Dorsey (잭 도시), has unveiled Buzz, a work group chat platform that lets people and AI agents share the same conversation window.
TechCrunch reported on July 21 that Buzz is a collaboration tool aimed at taking on Slack and GitHub, with a focus on bringing multiple workflows into a single workspace. The interface is similar to Slack, but it supports AI agents by default and can also manage GitHub projects in the same window.
Dorsey introduced Buzz on social media platform X (Twitter) as model-neutral and decentralised, as well as self-sovereign and open source. Developers can access the full source code and directly modify or add features to match how their teams work.
Buzz is still in an early stage. It is too soon for organisations that have already built collaboration systems around Slack to move immediately. The free desktop app is currently available for macOS, Windows 11 and Linux, and the app code is posted on GitHub.
