LG Uplus said on July 19 it launched a subscription product that combines Kyobo Book Centre’s e-book subscription service sam and the digital magazine subscription service Moazine, a first for a mobile carrier.

The new product is offered through LG Uplus’ subscription platform Udoc. The monthly fee is 9,900 won, about a 60 percent discount from the regular price of 24,900 won. To mark the launch, it will offer a 5,000-won discount coupon until the end of August.

Kyobo Book Centre’s sam provides about 800,000 pieces of content, including e-books, audiobooks, videos and academic papers. Moazine offers about 2,400 domestic and foreign digital magazines in current affairs, economy and lifestyle categories.

LG Uplus plans to continue rolling out bundled subscription products by expanding cooperation with content providers. It also plans to review subscription structures tailored to users’ consumption patterns.

Cho Yong-sung (조용성), an executive director in charge of partnership business at LG Uplus, said, "We designed it so users can access more content at a lower cost by offering e-books and magazines in a single subscription." He said the company will expand subscription products that propose new combinations suited to customer lifestyles.
