Nvidia on July 15 (local time) launched a small open-source model for “physical AI” that operates in the real world, such as robots.

The new model, Cosmos3 Edge, has 4 billion parameters and can run on customers’ own computers rather than in data centres. It supports both a vision language model (VLM) and a world model approach to help robots explore and understand their surroundings.

Nvidia also released a new version of Jetson, its computer for running robotics applications. The new Jetson version has slightly reduced performance and memory compared with the previous version.

Deepu Talla (디푸 탈라), Nvidia’s senior vice president of robotics and edge AI, said 2.5 million developers and 10,000 companies are using Jetson hardware and Cosmos models together. Nvidia’s non-data centre revenue, including Jetson, accounted for 8 percent of total revenue in the last quarter.
