Global cumulative sales of the horror game Mimesis, developed by Krafton affiliate creative studio Relu Games, have surpassed 2 million copies.

Released in early access in October last year, Mimesis topped 1 million copies sold in 50 days. It reached 2 million after a major update carried out last month. Krafton plans to use the performance milestone as a springboard to continue developing Mimesis into a "big franchise" intellectual property.

Mimesis is a four-player co-op horror game that uses artificial intelligence technology. The monster Mimesis, implemented as an AI-based non-player character, mimics users' movement and voice in real time to drive psychological warfare as it blends in among teammates. It is an "AI native game" that combines AI as a core device shaping the user experience, beyond a system element.

The major update last month enhanced NPC judgment and behavior and overhauled the game's progression structure and difficulty, boosting global sales. On game distribution platform Steam, user reviews remain "Very Positive". Key points of praise included tension from NPCs that mimic users, psychological warfare where cooperation and suspicion intersect, and storylines that vary each run.

Unexpected situations and suspicion dynamics that arise during play were reproduced as video content, and streaming metrics also grew. Cumulative viewing time for related content totaled about 10.34 million hours, and the combined total of peak concurrent viewers by content reached 3.8 million people.

It also won an excellence award in the game design category at the CEDEC Awards 2026 at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference, hosted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association in Japan, marking the first time a Korean game has received the prize.

Relu Games CEO Min-jeong Kim (김민정) said the record was thanks to users who believed in the game's potential and responded to it. "It is an achievement that shows AI has entered a stage where it creates the fun of the game itself, beyond being a tool that helps development," she said. "Based on the accumulated capabilities in technology development and planning, we will continue bold challenges through combining AI and games and accelerate Mimesis' long-term success," she added.
