[DigitalToday reporter Dae-geon Seok] South Korean autonomous driving company Autonomous A2Z, also known as A2Z, is stepping up its commercialisation drive in Singapore. A2Z said on July 13 it took part in NCS AI Impact 2026, held on July 9 at Marina Bay Sands Expo in Singapore, and showcased its Level 4 unmanned autonomous shuttle ROii and remote driving control technology.
In March, A2Z signed an MOU with Singapore AI technology services company NCS at the Korea-Singapore AI Connect Summit. The MOU aims to commercialise autonomous driving in Singapore's public sector market. The company's participation in the event is a follow-up measure to the agreement. NCS is a unit of Singapore Telecommunications, Singapore's largest telecoms company, and NCS AI Impact is an AI and tech forum hosted annually by NCS.
This is the first time A2Z's in-house developed Level 4 robot shuttle ROii has been unveiled in the Singapore market. ROii is a mobility solution that combines autonomous driving technology and an operating system in a vehicle body without a driver's seat. Shuttle operations for NCS employees are planned, and discussions on local deployment are expected to gather pace.
The event also featured a remote driving demonstration linking South Korea and Singapore. When staff operated the pedals and steering wheel from a remote driving cockpit installed at the Singapore venue, a Sonata (DN8) modified by A2Z drove in real time at the autonomous driving test track K-City inside the Korea Automobile Testing and Research Institute (KATRI) in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi province. The company said a safety driver was on board under regulations, but the vehicle drove without any separate intervention, confirming the stability of the remote monitoring system.
A2Z began participating in Singapore's smart city project COSMO in 2023 and set up a joint venture with local partner Kilsar Global in 2024. In 2025, it obtained Singapore's M1 autonomous driving licence, the first for a South Korean company.
Han Ji-hyung (한지형), A2Z's chief executive, said, "With the start of global commercialisation now within sight based on the autonomous driving technology and operational capabilities we have accumulated, we will lead physical AI mobility services in global markets, including Singapore."
